iPhone 5 Release Date: Weekend Rumors Roundup Ahead of Sept. 12 Launch, from Price, Carriers, LTE, and NFC

With the iPhone 5's rumored debut set in four days, rumors on the Apple's latest features and accessories are reaching boiling point.

Starting with the price, it has been expected to "equal to that of the iPhone 4S's offerings."

A source "tipped off" 9to5Mac about the prices, and the codes matrix might have been leaked:

N42A-USA -$199, N42B-USA-$199, N42A-USA-$299, N42B-USA-$299, N42A-USA-$399, N42B-USA-$399.

The "tip" stated the letter differences after "N42" indicate the color options that are speculated to be black and white.

The Near Field Communication (NFC) is still a topic that has mixed reports on whether the iPhone 5 will feature it or not. The "tip" added the code name of "N41" has the NFC but "N42" is only marked for the iPhone 5. This will contradict a report from Northern Voices Online, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the latest iPhone will have NFC as well as leaked pictures from Japanese blogMacotakara stating a chip on the back of the device will place the NFC chip.

AnandTech concluded that NFC is "highly unlikely" for the iPhone 5.

The KGI Securities analyst also suggest the dock connector will be shorter, as heavily rumored, but the number of pins is still unsure. Early in the summer, it was reported it will be 19-pins, then 9-pins, but Kuo suggested it will be 19-pins again instead of the traditional 30-pins.

Latinos Post reported on the smaller dock connector, including an accidental posting on Apple's online store, according to AWhiteDot, revealing that there could be a 9-pin-to-30-pin dock converter connector.

As for network connectivity, the iPhone 5 is expected to be available for 4G LTE, according to new reports. The 4G LTE is available on AT&T, Sprint, and especially Verizon, which has the largest LTE subscribers in the US. However, a poll suggested that 47 percent of consumers are not considering 4G LTE as a major decision to buying the device.

The display and screen is another hot topic, with the new device expected to have a screen measuring 4-inches with Retina Display and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The device will feature a metal casing, still opposite to Samsung's use of plastic.

A new poll by Business Insider, however, suggests "mixed-to-negative" consumer response for the iPhone 5's look. With over 3,479 votes, 63 percent of people votes "yes" that the iPhone 5 is ugly, while 37 percent voted no.

The iPhone 5 will debut on Sept. 12 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California at a 1p.m. EDT press conference. The conference is rumored to feature other upcoming Apple products, from an updated iPod and the iPad Mini.
